Breathwork refers to many forms of conscious alteration of breathing, such as hyperventilation or connecting the inhale and exhale, when used within psychotherapy or meditation. Proponents believe the technique may be used to
attain alternate states of consciousness, and that sustained practice of breathwork techniques may result in spiritual or psychological benefits.
Breath is life. When we are unable to expand our lung capacity fully for reasons other than a physical cause, we are blocking life. Fear and anxiety is often the reason of not being able to "catch your breath". Fear of life, fear of death, fear. Breathwork is relearning how to breath fully and to become aware of the feeling within the body when one is "blocking life". Breathwork is done through the visual witness of the facilitator watching the clients breathing patterns. Education and exercises are given to expand the awareness of the breath and it's power to empower and to release old patterns and blockages.
