Gynecology is Women's Health Care as it relates specifically to the female reproductive organs:  the cervix, uterus, ovaries, vagina and vulva.  Gynecologists see females for preventive health care and cancer screenings as well as problems such as: cysts, fibroids, heavy bleeding, abnormal pap smears, infections, contraception, PMS, hormonal imbalances, pelvic pain, sexual concerns, endometriosis and infertility, to name a few more common ailments.  Gynecologists perform surgery, prescribe medicines and handle most reproductive and menopausal issues.
