Holistic Nursing is defined as "all nursing practice that has healing the whole person as its goal." It is a specialty practice that draws on nursing knowledge, theories, expertise and intuition to guide nurses in becoming therapeutic partners with people in their care, recognizing the totality of the human being. Bringing a complementary and integrative focus to their work, holistic nurses work in a variety of settings, i.e. hospitals, universities and/or private practice. National board certification in holistic nursing, a recognized specialization by the Amnerican Nurses Assn, is through the American Holistic Nurses Association. |
